Exquisite residences are the calling card of Southern Highlands. “Southern Highlands has more diverse options than some people may know,” Borges says. “There are the golf estates and gated custom homes, but there are also some bungalows and cottages that make this a community many people can afford.” This gated community has several densely built subdivisions, featuring either lush green lawns or environmentally friendly desert xeriscapes. Lot sizes get larger the closer homes get to the golf course, with many homes surrounding the course offering backyard pools and entertainment spaces. Homes are typically built in Mediterranean or Spanish-inspired styles, with stucco walls and terracotta roofs. With the variety of options here, there is a variety of pricing too. Bungalows cost around $400,000, new traditional homes cost around $1 million and newer contemporary homes cost between $1.2 million and $2 million. Estates of the golf course can cost anywhere from $6 million to $25 million.

The gem of the neighborhood is the Southern Highlands Golf Club, a private championship golf course with scenic views of distant mountains. Members are afforded a variety of amenities here, including a spa, fitness center, tennis court, pool and a children’s play area. “You don’t have to live on a golf estate to be a member,” Borges says. “Anyone can become a golf course or community member.” In addition to the golf course, there are a variety of ways residents can get outdoors here. Residents can stroll through Dr. Harry B. Johnson Rose Garden or take the kids to the splash pad at Goett Family Park. Hiking enthusiasts will enjoy living close to Red Rock Canyon, which offers miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and rock climbing.

Clark County School District serves families
Families seeking public school education will send their students to Stuckey Elementary School and then on to Tarkanian Middle School. Both schools earned an overall B-plus grade on Niche. Students then filter into Desert Oasis High School, which earned an overall B-minus. The school has a robust offering of career and technical education programs like construction, marketing, gaming and engineering. The school’s fine arts programs are also very popular, including options like ceramics, costume design, piano and theater. Families seeking private education can send their students to application-based options like Southern Highlands Preparatory School. “Southern Highlands Prep is a popular option for residents who want private schools,” Borges says.
Desert Oasis High School has a prestigious football team.

Get all the necessities at Southern Highlands Marketplace
Residents are just minutes from the Southern Highlands Marketplace, which has small businesses like Haute Chix, a boutique, and Bogart’s Bone Appetit, a pet supply store. There are also grocery stores like Smith’s and pharmacies like Walgreens. There’s even a CareNow Urgent Care center for when residents need prompt medical services. The marketplace has a variety of chain and locally owned restaurants, including Rise & Shine, a steak and eggs breakfast joint. Nearby Fire Station Plaza is a smaller shopping center with a collection of services and dining options like Le Café du Sud, a popular French café. “The M Hotel is another popular option for residents,” Borges says. “There are restaurants, local music and comedy shows throughout the week.”

Easy access to the Las Vegas Strip
When residents need access to more, I-15 makes it convenient. Via the interstate, residents are just 15 miles from the major employers of downtown Las Vegas and the dining, shopping and entertainment of the Las Vegas Strip. “The Vegas area is always expanding, so there is more infrastructure and more options every year,” Borges says. There is limited public transportation, but the ease of major roads makes it easy to get around the community. When residents need to travel outside of the area, Harry Reid International Airport is just 13 miles away.
