Furst Ranch, a master-planned community in Flower Mound , Texas, is the largest development ever approved by the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex suburb. Plans call for it to span more than 2,000 acres upon completion, which is not expected until the middle of the decade. Compared to other Flower Mound communities, it will be more than twice the size of Wellington and about three times the size of Bridlewood.

Homes

Highland Homes, Coventry Homes, David Weekley Homes and Shaddock Homes are involved in the community's initial development. The early offerings are large homes incorporating elements of several architectural styles. Square footage ranges from 2,100-plus to 4,600-plus. These brick-built properties are designed with the Texas weather in mind. Driveways and attached garages are standard, and several offer additional garage space. Prices typically range from the low $600,000s to more than $1.2 million.
As the community develops, special assessment fees could be applied to cover the costs of maintaining infrastructure such as streets and recreational amenities.

Transportation

Furst Ranch is located on the west side of Flower Mound near U.S. Highway 377, which is known locally as Denton Highway.
Denton is about 12 miles north. Nearby Interstate 35 West provides easy access to Fort Worth employment centers. Alliance Airport is the center of a transportation and logistics hub about 15 miles south. Downtown Fort Worth is about 30 miles away. DFW International Airport is within 20 miles, and Dallas is about 35 miles away, although the drive takes about an hour.

Schools

Furst Ranch is part of the Argyle Independent School District, the top-rated district in Denton County. Argyle ISD is made up of seven campuses:

  • Four elementaries for kindergarten through fifth grade
  • A Sixth Grade Center to ease the transition into middle school
  • Argyle Middle School, for students in seventh and eighth grades
  • Argyle High School, for students in ninth through 12th grades
Argyle High competes in more than two dozen events – from math and science to journalism and the performing arts – in the statewide University Interscholastic League. Led by its marching band, the school has won nearly 20 state championships in UIL competition.
Argyle ISD is not an open-enrollment district, so transfer requests are limited, and approvals are rare.

Parks

Flower Mound is home to Grapevine Lake, a haven for boaters and anglers. Marinas and boat ramps are easily accessible along its shores. Other popular waterfront destinations include the 234-acre Twin Coves Park & Campground and the Northshore Trail, a prime spot for hikers and mountain bikers. The city is also known for its vast network of paved trails that connect amenities such as parks, schools and shopping centers.
The actual flower mound for which the city is named rises about 50 feet above the surrounding prairie. It is a protected ecological site.

Shopping and Dining

Restaurants and boutique stores can be found along U.S. 377 in Argyle . Land has been purchased for a future H-E-B in Furst Ranch, but the closest grocery option until it opens is the Kroger in nearby Bartonville . The Flower Mound Riverwalk, a shopping, dining and entertainment center, is within 10 miles. Big-box retailers such as Target and Walmart are spread throughout Flower Mound and Denton.
