Legends offers resort-style amenities near the Gulf Coast

Legends is a gated community in Fort Myers built around a scenic 18-hole championship golf course. Since opening in 1999, the course has undergone a major renovation that modernized the layout, reconstructed all putting surfaces and updated practice facilities. Beyond the fairways, the country club offers multiple dining options, tennis courts and a resort-style swimming pool. Several more restaurants are just outside the neighborhood on Daniels Parkway. With Interstate 75 east of the community, Legends stays connected to the rest of Fort Myers while maintaining its exclusive atmosphere.

Country club amenities anchor the community's recreation

Recreation in the neighborhood centers on the Legends Golf & Country Club, with its 18-hole course, seven tennis courts, four pickleball courts and four bocce courts. Membership at the club comes with certain perks when you want to play a round of golf. “Those that do have a golf membership pay no cart fees or trail fees for their carts, but yet they furnish the carts with GPS and everything,” says Hal Morgan, a Realtor with Genesis Realty Team who has been selling homes in the area for over a decade. For more activity, you can take an exercise class at the club’s fitness center or spend some time by the pool. The adjacent Olde Hickory Golf and Country Club offers many of the same activities for its members. Outside of the neighborhood, Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve stretches across 3,500 acres of wetland habitat. A boardwalk trail winds through the cypress forest, where visitors might spot alligators, turtles, otters and wading birds. For cycling or jogging, John Yarbrough Linear Park has a paved pathway that runs along the Ten Mile Canal.

Single-family homes and condos with club membership included

Legends includes a mix of single-family homes and condos overlooking the golf course. Traditional houses with backyard pools and covered lanais are the most common. Other frequent features include stucco exteriors and tile roofs. The condos are often in low-rise buildings, and most complexes have a community pool. As a bundled golf community, Legends ties club membership to each individual property. Some come with full golf privileges, while others have social memberships, so it’s important to verify which kind of membership is attached to the home you’re interested in. The area carries no CDD fees and no city taxes, but it does have homeowners association fees that can range from $600 to $1,300 per month. When it comes to prices, single-family houses typically range from the upper $300,000s to the mid-$700,000s. Condos run from the mid-$100,00s to the mid-$400,000s. “Right now, there’s a high demand. Low inventory, high demand,” Morgan says.
