An older established area
As its name suggests, Central Meadowbrook is a conveniently located neighborhood in Fort Worth with easy access to everything the Metroplex offers. But there’s a lot more to this historic neighborhood than just a great location. “People built and bought these homes decades ago, and they’re still there. So, it is a long-term community. It’s the complete opposite of a brand-new built community. It has established trees and huge yards. No two houses look the same. This is a community of people that appreciate the unique qualities, and that’s what they go there for,” says Teresa Moore, an associate broker with Wedgewood Homes Realty. If you’re looking for an established, charming neighborhood with a close-knit community, Central Meadowbrook checks all those boxes with its midcentury homes and friendly residents. “It’s an established, older part of Fort Worth,” says Marcy Barkemeyer, a Realtor with Keller Williams who has sold homes for 18 years. “It’s a quiet area.”
Older renovated homes
Most homes in Central Meadowbrook were built in the 1950s and 1960s. Moore says the area’s popularity has ebbed and flowed, but it’s currently on the upswing. “As time goes on, those areas kind of become less popular, but then the people discover the cool history of the area, and then it starts coming back. So, it’s going through a revitalization area right now, and it is very popular,” says Moore.
Drive along the neighborhood’s tree-lined streets to find the neighborhood’s ranch-style homes from the middle of the 20th century. These homes come with brick and stone exteriors, triangular roofs and large windows. Some homes have built-in garages, but the ones without garages usually have a driveway. The wide streets of the neighborhood also offer plenty of room for parking. Because the area is seeing so much revitalization, finding an older home completely remodeled with updated floors, appliances and bathrooms is common. Moore adds that the neighborhood is an affordable one for Fort Worth. Three-bedroom houses are listed anywhere from $230,000 to $397,000. Overall, homes in the area cost between $172,000 to $464,000.
Additionally, there are not many Home Owners Associations in the area. The CAP Index crime score is 5 out of 10, above the national average of 4 out of 10. Most of the violent crime scores in Central Meadowbrook are 5 out of 10. Four environmental issues affect Fort Worth and most of Texas: heatwaves, droughts, wildfires/extreme weather events (like hurricanes), and rising sea levels. There are 250 places of worship in the area — many are located in Fort Worth.
Eastern Hills HS famous for entertaining JFK
West Handley Elementary School serves local young students. Students might attend Meadowbrook Middle School, which has been educating the community since 1936. Nearby Eastern Hills High School has a long history in the community. The school’s band is famous for playing “Hail to the Chief” for President John F. Kennedy when he visited Fort Worth. All three schools have a C grade from Niche.
Golf and water fun
Central Meadowbrook residents can easily access nearby attractions like the Meadowbrook Golf Course, a city-owned municipal course. This one has the most rolling terrain of the city’s three golf courses. The tree-lined fairways lead you past several water hazards, adding challenging scenery to the course. The course also has an active golf association, with more than 200 members that play weekly rounds. For something a bit more passive, head to Oakland Lake Park for more outdoor time. This lush green space has a 1.3-mile walking trail surrounding a serene lake. There are multiple playgrounds available for kids to explore, as well as a skate park where residents can work on some tricks on the ramps.
Tacos popular option
Stop in Pollo Regio for good Mexican food. Locals enjoy the delicious tacos and the friendly, quick service from this restaurant, which has a drive-thru option. Mi Tierra Taqueria Carniceria is a popular local meat market across the street. This is where residents can stock up on all kinds of quality meats and produce, and the store also has a taco bar that residents enjoy each time they stop here. When you need to stock up on groceries or run errands, Albertsons is just a short drive away. Nearby Interstate 30 gives residents easy access to downtown Fort Worth to the west or Arlington and Dallas to the east, making Central Meadowbrook a convenient location for any commute. According to Barkemeyer, most other shopping must be done in Fort Worth.
