Ventana is a conveniently located community in southwest Fort Worth

Ventana is a master-planned development about 15 miles southwest of downtown Fort Worth . The community offers a variety of recreational amenities and is home to Rolling Hills Elementary School. Residents enjoy easy access to major Metroplex highways, and their shopping and dining needs are just minutes away in Benbrook .

About halfway through the 20-year development plan

The first phase of Ventana, which began selling homes in 2017, comprises about 500 acres. “It’s definitely a more established community, but it’s growing,” says Maria Mason , a resident and top seller of homes in Ventana for Camino Real Estate. “It’s a 20-year plan, so we’re about halfway.” Officials broke ground on Ventana West, the community’s second phase, in April 2025.

A collection of contemporary, brick-built homes stands out along quiet streets in a walkable subdivision setting. Sidewalks front small yards. Many of the homes are two stories. Driveways and attached garages are standard features. Prices typically range from the mid-$300,000s to $800,000 plus, although the largest homes offering more than 4,000 square feet of interior space can list for more. “It has different builders with different price points, and that’s an attraction,” Mason says. Monthly HOA fees are under $100 per month, but residents will see an extra annual fee on their property tax bill from the Public Improvement District that helps fund amenities and community upkeep.

Highway access to the heart of Fort Worth is a draw

“The proximity to downtown Fort Worth, the hospital district and TCU is what a lot of people really like about the area,” says Mason, who adds that traffic is “not bad at all.” Residents can connect to Interstate 20 about 2 miles north of the community for travel into the heart of the city. Commuters can get downtown in under 30 minutes during peak hours, and the drive can be as quick as 15 minutes during off-peak hours when traffic is light. Residents also enjoy convenient access to jobs in north Fort Worth via nearby Interstate 820. “A lot of Lockheed employees live here,” Mason says. “That’s probably the No. 1 buyer pool.” Travel times increase the farther east you go into the Metroplex, so traffic can be a bigger issue for the 30-mile drive to Arlington and the 45-mile drive to Dallas .

Amenities and events anchor the Ventana lifestyle

“It’s a strong family community with a lot of events,” Mason says. “People really like that aspect.” Featured amenities in this active community include:

  • A 24,000-square-foot pavilion
  • Two resort-style swimming pools
  • Dedicated areas for children and pets
  • Lawn space for HOA events and gatherings
  • Paved trails that run throughout the community.
More amenities will be added as part of the Ventana West expansion. Even with its amenities and events, Ventana offers a slower pace than the larger communities of Walsh and Tavolo Park.

Outside of the community, there are plenty of other options for recreation. Nearby spots include Rolling Hills Park, which is within walking distance, Whitestone Golf Club, Benbrook Lake and the Benbrook Community Center YMCA. Ventana residents are also just about 30 miles from the Six Flags Over Texas amusement park and the Texas Rangers’ home baseball stadium at Globe Life Field.

Rolling Hills Elementary is in the community

Rolling Hills Elementary opened in late 2023 to serve the community. Students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade attend the school, which is part of the Fort Worth Independent School District. Older students typically attend Benbrook-Middle High School, about 2 miles away. The district allows transfer requests during a two-month window each spring. Applications must be made online, and a lottery system is used to determine which transfers are approved.

Stores and restaurants in neighboring Benbrook

Stores and restaurants are concentrated nearby along the U.S. Route 377 corridor that runs through Benbrook. Shopping options range from local favorites such as the Benbrook Antique Mall to Walmart. An Ace Hardware and a post office are among the convenient options at the Benbrook Plaza Shopping Center. Popular dining destinations range from Italian restaurants to steakhouses to diners.
