Dense foliage frames the winding country roads, adding to the rural, natural setting of the neighborhood. “This area is just so unique; there’s nothing else like it. It’s close to everything, but you’re in the middle of nowhere,” says Nicholas Stone, a Happy Trails Property Association board member. “We came here for the tranquility. We lived in a cookie-cutter community, and you had no space; you could hear everything going on. Here, you have privacy and the beauty of nature around you.” As you drive through the community, you’ll see ranch-style houses and farmhouses, along with custom builds. Stone adds that no two homes in the neighborhood look alike. Prices typically range from the lower $500,000s to around $1.1 million. While the neighborhood does have a homeowners association with monthly fees of around $50, the organization doesn’t police how people use their property. Equestrian-friendly zoning allows animals, boats and RVs, and many properties include barns, paddocks and private ponds.

Because of the area’s rural setting, most people drive to get around. Several major highways are nearby, making it easy to travel through the region. “You can get to the I-4 in 4 minutes,” Stone says. “Disney is 15 minutes away. You can be so many places so quickly.” Interstate 4 cuts across Florida and leads about 30 miles northeast to Orlando. U.S. Route 27 and state Road 429 are also nearby for local travel.
