Gardere is a unique suburb built in the 1980s for the professors and students of Louisiana State University. In fact, several university clubs and athletic complexes call the neighborhood home. Also known as Riverland, this community has spectacular views of the Mississippi River too. Public Schools in Baton Rouge

After finishing middle school, most students graduate into Woodlawn High School, which teaches over 1300 students. Woodlawn is 10 miles from Gardere and earns a C-plus on Niche. The only school located in the neighborhood itself is the South Baton Rouge Charter Academy. The school seeks to empower children to participate in an increasingly tech-oriented society by providing a positive, student-focused environment. The tuition-free public charter facility serves children from prekindergarten to eighth grade and has both before and after-school care. The institution uses personalized learning plans for each child, and all students are encouraged to learn a new language through cultural activities, music, and video.

The University Club
The University Club is a private golf club situated in the heart of Gardere. This 7,700-foot premier golf course is the permanent home of LSU men’s and women’s golf.
