A long-established Greeley neighborhood
Directly east of downtown Greeley is Sunrise, one of the city’s longest-established neighborhoods. Bookended by railroad tracks and the Poudre River, the neighborhood began as worker housing for Hispanic, German and Japanese immigrants employed in agriculture and construction during the young days of Greeley’s development in the early 1900s.
Fixer-uppers and early 1900s homes
Modest bungalows, cottages and ranch-style homes make up Sunrise’s housing market, which can range from 700 to 2,000 square feet. Most of the community’s houses were built between the 1880s and the 1920s, and many long-standing ones have faced renovations and additions over the years. Two-bedroom fixer-uppers range from $230,000 to $300,000. Newly renovated and well-kept homes with three or more bedrooms are listed between $315,000 and $380,000. The average Sunrise home is around $100,000 more affordable than the average Greeley home. Additionally, most houses have fenced-in backyards and gravel driveways with 5,000-square-foot lots.
