Spacious living still close to downtown Green Bay in Starlite

On the outskirts of Green Bay, Starlite is a quiet suburb on the southeastern side of the city. Out east, residents are separated from the excitement and action of downtown Green Bay for a slower pace of life. “If you’re downtown, you’re more in the city, but if you’re on the eastern side, you might have a more private yard and your own space,” says real estate agent Elizabeth Helfenberger with Ben Bartolazzi. Even though Starlite might feel farther from the action with the East River putting distance between it and Green Bay’s other suburbs, Starlite residents can still connect with their neighbors. Starlite also has a very active homeowners association, with a Facebook page dedicated to highlighting fundraisers for the schools and community news.

Ranches and historic Nationals across Starlite

Starlite’s houses are mostly ranches built in the 60s and 70s, though there is the occasional historic National, dating back to anywhere from the late 1800s to the 1920s. Homes typically sell between $125,000 and $300,000. Many properties here can offer over a quarter acre of land, so residents have plenty of space to spread out while still living within Green Bay’s city limits. Danish pastries and downtown brunch destinations

Because Starlite sits between downtown Green Bay and the eastern side’s shopping and restaurant options, residents have their pick of Green Bay’s culinary scene. On the eastern side, Uncle Mike’s Bake Shoppe is a Green Bay staple for pastries. Its specialty is the kringle—a Danish pastry made from layers of folded dough and stuffed with a filling. Mackinaws Grill and Spirits serves everything from burgers to seafood. It has a bar inside enclosed in an authentic log cabin, where they often have live music. Downtown, The Creamery is a popular brunch destination that sits along the Fox River. Aldi and Walmart Supercenter are located along Main Street, about 1.5 miles away. Target is 2 miles south.

Green and gold for Packers games in Starlite

Other than neighborhood clean-up days and garage sales posted on the homeowners association page, Starlite residents will likely have to venture beyond the neighborhood for community events. On the other side of Green Bay in the Broadway District, the Farmers’ Market on Broadway hosts over 100 local vendors and live music on Wednesday evenings in the warmer months. During football season, the city comes together to support the Packers, either at Lambeau Field, about 5.5 miles from Starlite, or from their homes.
