A residential hub flanked by mature trees and an easy walk to downtown Greenville
Living close to a city center doesn’t have to mean sacrificing privacy. North Main sits just 2 miles north of Downtown Greenville but trades its dense corners and bustle for tree-shaded streets and suburban tranquility. “North Main has a neighborhood feel right in the heart of downtown,” says Maggie Toler, a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway Homes Services and longtime Greenville resident. “There are rolling hills, established trees and all the houses have tons of character.” The neighborhood was originally intended to be the city’s business district but became more residentially focused as Greenville grew. But locals can still enjoy the benefits of the central Greenville lifestyle, with reliable walkability and connections to many local parks.

Mixed architectural styles in the city’s residential center
The area’s earliest homes date back to the 1920s, with much of its development happening within the mid-20th century. Buyers can also find contemporary homes in the area, including new traditional houses and custom-built estates. Prices range from the $270,000s for condos and smaller mid-century homes with minor updates to $1.2 million or more for new homes with impressive floorplans. “Inventory has been low in North Main for years. Most houses sell for more than $500,000, and they don’t sit without an offer for more than a day,” Toler says.

Dining staples nearby include Northgate Soda Shop, a classic diner and neighborhood favorite built in a former warehouse building, and Asada, which specializes in traditional and experimental Mission-style tacos.
