Cedar Creek

Living in the lap of luxury
Many of the houses in Cedar Creek are in gated communities that offer a private and luxurious lifestyle for residents. Take in the gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside from grand estates and massive mansions in the Spanish Revival or contemporary styles. “Cedar Creek is home to a lot of high-end homes on gigantic acreage lots,” says Michael McCall, Realtor with JBGoodwin, Realtors and founder of Life in San Antonio Texas Home Group. “You get a lot of space, and the privacy of the properties makes it very quiet while having that backdrop of the country hills.” Other areas of the neighborhood feature subdivisions with 21st-century designs and homes that are built closer together. Stucco and stone siding are common in these developments, along with built-in garages. Residents of these subdivisions have access to homeowner’s association parks featuring pools and tennis courts. Price tags in the area can soar to over $1.5 million, however, most smaller new builds start in the $400,000 range.range.From soaring scores to state championship games
As part of the Boerne Independent School District, students can attend Kendall Elementary School and Boerne Middle School South in preparation for studies at Boerne High School, whose successful athletic program sent its football team to the state championship game in 2022. “Residents really love the top-tier school ratings,” says McCall, who has lived in San Antonio his entire life. “The city has one of the highest-rated school districts for any of San Antonio’s suburbs.” All three schools — and the entire district — have a Niche grade of A.Zip into action at Helotes Ziplines
Take in the Hill Country wilderness at nearby Senator Frank L. Madla Natural Area, featuring several trails and a lookout on top of the hill with wide views of the surrounding rolling hills. If a relaxing walk through the woods isn’t exciting enough, opt for the Helotes Ziplines. Visitors can speed through the hills on lines that range from 100 to 1,000 feet. Don’t forget to stop by their beer garden on the way out for a refreshing beverage. Cedar Creek is also home to two golf courses: Oak Valley Golf Course and Cedar Creek Golf Course. Avid golfers enjoy Oak Valley for its affordable price and short course, perfect for a practice round. Cedar Creek is a more challenging hilly course with plenty of elevation gain and plenty of natural beauty to go with it. As part of the Alamo City Golf Trail, this course is a municipal course that is open to the public.Real-time luxury at La Cantera
Old Town Helotes Antique Store is a local favorite to snag old-school memorabilia, but Cedar Creek residents are never too far from the amenities of San Antonio. The Shops at La Cantera and The RIM are two popular shopping centers just south of the neighborhood, featuring luxury favorites like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Carolina Herrera, along with big box stores like Lowe’s and Dollar Tree. Both shopping centers have extensive dining options, but La Hacienda Scenic Loop is a local favorite to dine on authentic Tex-Mex dishes.
Homecourt advantage never hurt anybody
Cedar Creek’s proximity to San Antonio allows residents to enjoy all the events the city has to offer, like The DoSeum Museum for Kids' annual Kids Countdown: Moon Madness, which gives kids their own cosmic New Year’s Eve countdown experience. Adults can always head over to the AT&T Center to catch one of the San Antonio Spurs’ many home games.
Get there in a flash
State Route 16 borders the southern edge of Cedar Creek, connecting to State Loop 1604. Interstate 10 and Bandera Road are also nearby, allowing Cedar Creek residents to easily zip into San Antonio.
A sight to behold
The biggest highlight of the Cedar Creek area is the high-end luxury homes set among the rolling hills. “The thing about this place is the amount of green space and country hill views that just come with living here,” says McCall. “Residents have that country vibe while still being close to everything they need.”
