Northwest Hickory offers suburban charm and access to local attraction
Northwest Hickory is a conveniently located neighborhood offering an alluring combination of suburban life with access to the city’s top attractions. The community’s assortment of single-family homes is minutes from popular outdoor attractions, including Lake Hickory to its north and an active downtown district to its south. “I think the best thing [about Northwest Hickory] is that it's easily accessible,” says Hank Eimer, the broker-in-charge at Coldwell Banker Boyd & Hassell, who has sold in the area. “You'll see a lot of people riding bikes and exercising, and so it's very pedestrian-friendly, and I think a lot of people are attracted to that.”
Northwest Hickory offers plenty of architecture with low HOA activity
Home styles here include ranch, bungalows, Colonial Revivals and New Traditionals. Prices range from $250,000 to $700,000 based on a number of factors, including age, condition and size. Some prices climb above $1 million. Properties are typically on winding streets, with tall oak trees accenting lawns with larger lot sizes. Some have inground pools. “There are a lot of great places in Northwest (Hickory). In this area, there is certainly some beautiful architecture,” says Eimer.
Eimer says that the neighborhood, which has few HOAs, has attracted a mix of families, retirees and commuters. “It's attractive to everybody because the proximity to anything you might need is within your fingertips,” says Eimer. Flood Maps from the Federal Emergency Management Agency show there is a slight risk of flooding by local creeks. Snow and severe storms can also be factors in Hickory.
