Award-winning community named for Civil War-era railway line
In the mid-19th century, farmer James Taylor Ross fell in love with the Oxmoor Valley and settled in what is now known as Ross Bridge. The community got its name from a Civil War-era stone bridge that acted as a railway supply line for the Confederate army. The railroad was still active until the early 21st century when developers took inspiration from American resort towns that developed from railway expansion and built a community centered around resort-style living and championship golf.
