Small-town charm and farmland abound just 55 miles outside of Detroit
Life moves at a slower pace in Imlay Township, a rural community located 55 miles north of Detroit’s city center. Expansive lots, farmland and established homes make up the township’s landscape, with Imlay City being a convenient nearby hub for a small selection of amenities and restaurants. “People move here for the small-town feel,” says Alex Lengemann, a local real estate agent with Realty Volution.com. “We have lower taxes out here compared to surrounding communities, and you can get more land for your money. Folks have been moving out to the Detroit-area townships in recent years as remote work has lessened the need to commute.”
