Indian Hills is a picturesque Louisville community near the river

Indian Hills, a home-rule city with its own mayor, city council and police department, is a sought-after destination along the Ohio River in eastern Louisville. Known for its stately homes and lush surroundings, Indian Hills attracts buyers looking for an established community that combines residential seclusion with everyday convenience. Easy access to riverfront parks and private clubs, highly rated schools and diverse dining adds to the appeal of Indian Hills.

High-value established homes in a lush residential setting

Indian Hills stands out for its traditional architecture, spacious lots and dense, wooded setting. Large brick homes built in the Colonial Revival style are prominent along quiet, winding streets shaded by a canopy of mature trees, while Cape Cods and midcentury ranch-style offerings add to the mix. The largest homes on the largest lots are the ones closest to the river. Prices typically range from the low $400,000s to around $3 millions, although select homes can list for more. The homeownership rate is nearly 100 percent.
“Indian Hills is known for being a very beautiful neighborhood,” says Realtor Sandy Gulick, a Louisville native with decades of real estate experience. “Residents are friendly, and everyone takes care of their homes. It’s a wonderful nook between River Road and U.S. 42.”
