New home communities can be found throughout Galludet, but they are concentrated in the northeast portion of the neighborhood where there’s more room to build. The community is served by the highly rated Franklin Township Community School Corporation. The district’s flagship school, Franklin Central High School, is in the neighborhood. There are also three elementary schools and two middle schools in the Galludet, and another elementary school just outside of it. All seven of those schools are highly rated. Elementary schools serve students in kindergarten through third grade, while intermediate schools serve students in fourth through sixth grades. The district allows students to apply for transfers to schools outside of their geographic zones. They can also apply for out-of-district transfers under Indiana’s Open Enrollment law. Lutheran High School of Indianapolis, a small, highly rated private institution, is also in the neighborhood. The school has won Class 1A state championships in football, baseball and boys basketball.
Franklin Township Community Park is a neighborhood attraction
Franklin Township Community Park, adjacent to Franklin Central High School, is the center of the area’s recreational activity. The nearly 100-acre park is anchored by athletic fields that host organized youth leagues in baseball, softball and soccer. Other featured amenities include colorful children’s playscapes and courts for tennis, pickleball and basketball. There are also trails and a pond. Nearby Dakota Landing Golf Course features a 9-hole layout.

Murphy’s Pubhouse South on Thompson Road offers food, drinks and live music. Flashbacks Family Bar & Grille on Southport Road is another popular destination. Easy access downtown via I-65
While you wouldn’t know it from its quiet setting, Galludet is conveniently located to three major highways. Interstate 65 to the west and Interstate 74 to the east both connect to Interstate 465 to the north for travel throughout the region. The 15-mile commute to downtown Indianapolis via I-65 can be made in under 30 minutes. It’s a few miles farther to Indianapolis International Airport via I-465, but the drive time is about the same.
