Geist Marina is a neighborhood attraction
While waterfront homeowners need only walk out to their backyard to hop in a boat or watercraft, all residents can enjoy the reservoir. The neighborhood’s Geist Marina has more than 500 boat slips. There’s also a paid, seasonal launch for sailboats there, since they are too tall to pass under the Fall Creek Bridge. The main public boat launch is nearby on Olio Road. Geist Marina also hosts the annual Fourth of July fireworks show, and part of the annual Geist Half Marathon runs through the neighborhood along Fall Creek Road. A beach is the featured attraction at nearby Geist Waterfront Park, which also offers a pirate-themed playground. Another popular amenity there is the public boat launch for canoes, kayaks and paddle boards.

The neighborhood is served by the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township. The west side is zoned for Mary E. Castle Elementary School, Fall Creek Valley Middle School and Lawrence North High School, which is known for its powerhouse basketball program. The east side is zoned for Amy Beverland Elementary School, which is in the neighborhood, Belzer Middle School and Lawrence Central High School, which is known for its powerhouse football program. The district allows students to apply for transfers to schools outside of their geographic zones. Nearby private options include Saint Simon the Apostle School and Holy Cross Lutheran School, both of which serve students through eighth grade.

Easy access to downtown, Carmel via I-465
Commuters can hop on nearby Interstate 465 for the commute into downtown Indianapolis. The trip is around 20 miles and takes about 40 minutes. Fishers and Carmel are regional employment centers that are much closer. Fishers is directly north of the neighborhood. For the commute into Carmel, residents can take I-465 to Keystone Parkway. The 14-mile drive takes about 25 minutes.

I love living in the Geist community. The area is really on the come up and there are so many family friendly activities to enjoy. Going boating with my family on the Geist reservoir is one of my favorite activities. There also are a lot of new food/ice cream places opening up that are so delicious. The public and private schools around this area are very nice as well.
