Arts District

Mostly midcentury
The Irvington Arts District area features mostly single-family homes with Traditional or ranch-style architecture, built in the 1950s and 1960s, ranging in size from 1,000 to 3,000 square feet and priced between $175,000 to $475,000. There's also a small selection of new construction homes with Tudor and French-influenced styles that range in size from 1,900 to 4,000 square feet and in price from $700,000 to $1.1 million. "Like most of Irving, it's a predominately established area," Torres says. "There's not as much available land as in other parts of the DFW, so you won't see as much new construction. And the new construction properties you see will be around $500,000 and over."
Irving Arts Center fun
With a name like the Arts District, it's not surprising that the neighborhood is home to the Irving Arts Center, a 10-acre complex where visitors can experience special events, including live theatrical and musical performances, like a concert series by the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra or a nostalgic evening of cover songs by the Fleetwood Mac tribute band, Rumours. The Irving Arts Center is also home to rotating art exhibitions and educational programs, including summer art and theater camps and Saturday art classes.
Dinner spots and grocery store stops
For a special date night or birthday celebration dinner after an arts center show, hungry locals head to Via Reál restaurant in the nearby Las Colinas Plaza shopping center, where they enjoy Santa Fe-style fine dining specialties like Adobo shrimp & crab enchiladas and red oak smoked tenderloin. For those who prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, there's The Spirit Grill sports pub, also in Las Colinas Plaza, where patrons chow down on spicy chicken wings and juicy burgers. This 20-year-old mainstay is also a great spot to watch the big game, belt out a favorite Taylor Swift hit karaoke style or share random knowledge during Thursday night trivia. While at Las Colinas Plaza, folks can stop by Tom Thumb for a few last-minute groceries or grab some treats from Petco for their lovable pup. Foodies, art buffs and even penny-pinchers might soon discover that the Arts District is the Irving neighborhood they've been dreaming about.
Nearby green spaces
For a good stretch of the legs at the end of a long school day, folks can head to nearby Cottonwood Creek Park, where they can run and play on the baseball field and playground, stroll along the paved trail near the tranquil pond or enjoy a picnic beneath the shady pavilion. At Victoria Park, a couple of miles west of the Arts District, parkgoers can enjoy a castle-themed playground, tennis and volleyball courts and a walking path.Nearby highways and public transit
With Interstate 35 and Dallas Area Rapid Transit stops and stations minutes from the neighborhood, Art District residents have several options when it comes to making the 14-mile commute to downtown Dallas.
Supportive school administrators
Area children attend schools in the Irving Independent School District, including Brandenburg Elementary and Travis Middle, both rated a C-plus by Niche. Next, students head to MacArthur High School, which earns an A-minus. "I have a few colleagues from my coaching days who have good things to say about Irving ISD," Torres muses. "They say that the administration in the schools is very good. There's a good foundation base of supportive administrators, which is important in a school district."
