Named after a local golf club
The Jacksonville community, Hyde Park, earned its name from the Hyde Park Golf Club, which dates back to the 1920s. Several decades ago, the course was a premier stop along the Men's and Women's PGA Tours. After World War II, homes were built around the greens and fairways, allowing locals to play the 18 holes close to home. Today, trickling streams and highways cover the area that is still primarily residential. A part of the westside, the area offers easy commutes to many focal points in the city. "One attraction to Hyde Park is the proximity to everything," says Garrett Decker, a regional real estate professional and Associate Broker of Nexthome at the Beach. "It's right off the main highways, Interstate 295 and 10, so you'll have transportation in and out of the area. It's also a middle ground between the Jacksonville Naval Air Station and downtown."

Hyde Park has midcentury homes, 21st century dwellings and new townhouses
Hyde Park contains several ranch-styles, split-level houses and a handful of Cape Cods from the 20th century. Many of these homes have cement blocks or brick exteriors. The community also contains new traditional homes from the last 20 years, including recent townhouses inside the Sadler Trace development. Most townhouses and condos range in price from $150,000 to $250,000. Homes built after the millennium range in from $250,000 to $300,000. Older homes have a wider range, starting at $150,000 and reaching upwards of $425,000 for some residences over 2,000 square feet.
"The area has a lot of recent development, and local organizations have worked together to build a tiny house community," says Janel Williams, a local Realtor with Watson Realty Corp. Considered the city's first official tiny house rental community, Tiny Houses on Navaho was designed by the local Habitat for Humanity chapter and managed by the nonprofit Ability Housing.
