Large lots in Johns Creek near the Chattahoochee River
The Rivermont neighborhood in Johns Creek dates back to the 1970s. Yards are filled with looming pine trees and a 100-acre private park borders the Chattahoochee River. “In the late 70s, apparently, if you were rich, this is where you lived,” says Kathy Olsen, a Rivermont resident and president of the neighborhood association. The area is still popular – increasingly among young families these days, in part because of the large homes and lot sizes. Rivermont is also conveniently located in the middle of four large Georgia cities – Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Peachtree Corners and Roswell. Though the Rivermont Golf Club runs through the neighborhood, it operates separately from the neighborhood association. Zack Haley, community association manager for a management company that runs the Rivermont neighborhood association, says the city is working on road and sidewalk improvements. “They’re trying to make it more golf cart friendly,” he says. The neighborhood also has several pools and tennis courts.
Rivermont residents appreciate the cool feeling from the shade in the warmer months that's provided by the large trees sitting on their property.
The Rivermont Golf Club is a private course that allows players in the community to sharpen their skills in the warmer months.

Rivermont has custom-built homes, many in a postmodern style
Rivermont has close to 950 homes sprinkled through five subdivisions. Single-family homes vary in style, but Haley says postmodern houses are common. “All the homes are custom,” Olsen says. “They’re all unique; not a single one’s the same. You’re not getting anything close to a cookie-cutter square lot kind of thing.” Olsen says this can sometimes make self-renovations challenging, because standard-sized items – like kitchen cabinets – don’t always fit. “But these houses are built really well.” Single-family homes are listed between $480,000-$850,000, depending on size and whether they have been remodeled. The neighborhood also has subdivisions of condos and townhomes. Condos on the golf green sell for between $250,000 and $450,000, depending on their size. Townhomes, mostly built in the 1980s, are listed between $450,000 and $500,000.
A large selection of privately owned homes are nestled within the steep hills of Rivermont and provide an extra layer of seclusion.
