Up-and-coming suburb is a center for Joplin High football
Centrally located in Joplin, Blendville North is an up-and-coming Joplin neighborhood seeing lots of investments in housing, with support from city grants. "It's an older neighborhood that's turning over," says Shannon Chew, the Shannon Chew Real Estate Group leader with Keller Williams Elevate in Joplin. "A lot of the houses in this neighborhood are being bought and rehabbed or being torn down and a new one put in." On the north side, Junge Field is a focal point for this neighborhood and for the city, drawing Joplin High families for Friday night football games. Foot traffic and car traffic are typical in this neighborhood that's close to shops, restaurants, schools and neighborhood churches.

A blend of fixer-uppers and New Traditional homes
Blendville North is a walkable neighborhood, with sidewalk-lined streets arranged in a grid. The neighborhood blends older homes and new ones, with properties varying in style and condition. There are late-19th-century and early-20th-century styles such as cottages and bungalows, which may have stone facades and front porches. Often, they need a complete overhaul. "More experienced rehabbers will make major repairs," Chew says. "They'll put in a new roof, make repairs to the foundation, add new wiring and plumbing." There are also New Traditional homes built as recently as 2024. Small front yards are typically well maintained with the occasional lawn ornament or seasonal decoration. Homes can range between $75,000 and $200,000, depending on age and condition. Joplin aims to create homeownership opportunities for low and moderate-income families through the Homebuyers Assistance Program, open to qualifying applicants as long as funding is available or until early 2026.
