Growing small-town city along the Chisolm Trail Parkway

Joshua, a city of about 8,000 residents, is roughly 25 miles south of Fort Worth along Texas State Highway 174. The population has grown by 33% since 2010. The growth has been spurred by the city's proximity to Fort Worth and development of the Chisolm Trail Parkway. "It turned an hour's commute to Fort Worth into 20 minutes," says Jeff Kelly, a Realtor with the Wethington Agency who has been selling in the area since 1998. The area's growth has led to many new-construction homes, along with the well-regarded Joshua Independent School District, which has made the area more appealing for homebuyers. While some smaller employers exist in Joshua, Kelly says many residents work north of the city. "There's a lot of people that commute to Burleson and Fort Worth," Kelly says. "There's a ton of remote workers as well."
