An illusion of seclusion close to Kalamazoo conveniences
As its name suggests, Kalamazoo’s Hill N Brook neighborhood is defined by gently rolling hills and proximity to water. Combined with spacious lots and ample tree cover, it can give the illusion that the hubbub of downtown Kalamazoo is much further than 4 miles away. “It has that seclusion where you feel farther from town, but you’re still close to everything,” says Ben Barber, a Realtor for Keller Williams Mulder Team. “When you leave for home, you leave the big city behind you – but without the big commute.”

Once the site of the Michigan Asylum for the Insane from 1887-1969, it’s now a serene spot for convening with nature. “It’s very ‘outdoorsy’ popular – not a water skiing or water sports destination,” Barber says. “Nature preserves and parks are something that’s very prominent in the area.”
