Maple Park sits between Interstate 35 and Interstate 435, and commuters can hop on either for trips toward downtown Kansas City, located about 10 miles away. Travelers can also use a combination of Interstates 35 and 29 to reach Kansas City International Airport, which is about 18 miles from Maple Park.

Outdoor fun ranges from roller coasters to quiet trails
One of the most prominent outdoor attractions in the area is the Worlds of Fun theme park, signaled by Maple Park’s hot air balloon-themed water tower, which matches the park’s logo. “Worlds of Fun also has a sister park there called Oceans of Fun, which is a nice water park,” says Chris Dalton, who’s the owner and broker at Dalton Realty, LLC and has over 30 years of real estate experience. Together, Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun stretch 325 acres, with an assortment of rides and slides that are just about a 3-mile drive from Maple Park. “The Mamba is the very big roller coaster that’s over there,” Dalton says of Worlds of Fun’s 205-foot snake-themed behemoth, the park’s tallest coaster. Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun are open every day of the week from late May through early August. Other places to enjoy a day outside in and around Maple Park include:
Searcy Creek Greenway Park, a 177-acre expanse that flows through the neighborhood and includes a playground, outdoor fitness equipment, a picnic pavilion and plenty of open lawn space
San Rafael Park, a 26-acre spot featuring a play area, a football field and a trail
Lakewood Greenway, a 64-acre space where you can fish in the lakes, go for a quiet walk along the roughly mile-long loop trail or take the kids to the animal-themed Penguin Park play area.
Restaurants and everyday shopping line U.S. Route 69
U.S. Route 69 is the closest commercial corridor, about a mile north of Maple Park. The roadway is lined with restaurants and other businesses. The options of places to eat include:

Ma & Pa's Kettle Restaurant, where you can fill up on homestyle cooking, from biscuits and gravy for breakfast to meatloaf for dinner, with a slice of pie for dessert.

Nelle Belle's Diner, which is hard to miss with its bright pink exterior, serves oversized pork tenderloin sandwiches.
Aberlardo’s, Ma & Pa’s, and Chinese Garden share the Claycomo Plaza shopping center with a Dollar General location. You can take care of more household needs farther west on Route 69 in the Antioch Crossing plaza, which includes stores such as Walmart Neighborhood Market and PetSmart.
