New Mark is a collection of subdivisions on the edge of North Kansas City, about 15 miles from downtown. Some subdivisions that make up New Mark

Throughout New Mark, there’s a wide variety of home styles spread across several subdivisions, many of which have HOAs. Some of these subdivisions include:

  • Normandy Courts, a ranch-style condo community where the HOA handles things like lawn care and exterior maintenance
  • New Mark Brookings, known for its midcentury split-level homes, with HOA fees that help maintain a neighborhood pool
  • Urban North, which has newer, contemporary-style homes, along with HOA amenities like a fitness center and parks
The median sale price here is around $360,000, which is higher than Kansas City’s median of about $280,000. Condos and older homes usually start in the lower $200,000s, while newer, bigger houses sometimes reach the mid-$500,000s.

Local public schools are highly rated

New Mark is zoned for North Kansas City Schools, and kids can attend Fox Hill Elementary School and New Mark Middle School, which are both in the neighborhood. They may continue to Staley High School in Northland. All three schools get an A-minus from Niche, and Staley offers College & Career Pathways focused on fields like entrepreneurship, technology and health services.

Golf courses, parks and lakes nearby

Aside from HOA-maintained recreation spaces, New Mark has a few pocket parks with playgrounds. It also sits right next to Staley Farms Golf Club, a private 18-hole course with a restaurant and fitness center on-site. About 2 miles north in Nashua, the 100-acre Anne Garney Park is known for its trail network, stretching across prairie land and wildflower fields. Head about 5 miles east and you’ll come across Hodge Park, one of the largest green spaces in the city. Once you’re there, you can play pickleball, golf on a public 18-hole course or explore pioneer life at the Shoal Creek Living History Museum. For a day of boating, swimming and fishing, Smithville Lake is about 20 miles north.

Grocery stores and restaurants on North Oak Trafficway

North Oak Trafficway is a major commercial corridor on New Mark’s west side. Along it, you’ll find:

  • Cosentino’s Sun Fresh, a locally owned grocery store
  • Fast-food restaurants like Culver’s, McDonald’s and Starbucks
  • Hot Rocks, an arcade, pizzeria and dive bar
  • Alice Scoopers, where you can get ice cream and boba tea
You’re also less than 10 miles from bigger commercial hubs, including Barry Towne Shopping Center in Fountain Hills and Zona Rosa in Prairie Point-Wildberry.

Easy access to U.S. Route 169 and Interstate 435

Several major highways surround New Mark. U.S. Route 169 runs just west of the neighborhood and is a direct route to downtown Kansas City, about 14 miles south. The drive usually takes 20 to 40 minutes, depending on traffic. To the north, Interstate 435 leads to the Kansas City International Airport, roughly 10 miles away. It also loops around the entire city, so getting to South Kansas City suburbs like Leawood and Lee's Summit is pretty simple.
