A laid-back community with outdoor recreation options close to home
The suburban community of Poerio is where residents spend their days strolling to its sprawling namesake park during the day and enjoying quiet evenings along its sought-after residential streets. Located at the northern tip of Kenosha, this tree-lined, midcentury subdivision sits near Lake Michigan and the city’s downtown district, home to events like the Snow Daze Festival and summer concerts at Pennoyer Park. “It’s close to the lake, and there are quite a few parks around there,” says Robb Granger, real estate agent with eXp Realty and a longtime resident of the region who works in and around Kenosha. “You could sell a home here in a day if you get the price right. Houses are selling very quickly.”

Exploring ice sculptures at the Snow Daze Festival
The Sesquicentennial Bandshell at Pennoyer Park puts on free concerts from July through August as a part of its Tuesdays at the Shell concert series. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, while drinks and snacks are available at the venue. Once winter rolls around, the city chooses a Saturday for the Snow Daze Festival.
