TerraLargo
Mediterranean-style villas and executive homes
The neighborhood's Mediterranean-style homes feature terracotta roofs, open floor plans, screened-in patios, updated interiors, paver driveways and two-car garages. They range in size from 1500-square-foot villas to 3,500-square-foot executive homes. Prices range between $350,000 and $700,000. Residents enjoy low-maintenance living. Monthly $300-plus HOA fees go toward lawn maintenance and shared amenities. Mature palm trees, hedges and birds of paradise add privacy and curb appeal. Wilson says the strict guidelines for exterior upkeep, modifications and parking are a plus for some and a negative for others. "It's a double-edged sword — people who move in love how the community looks, and others are not fans of how tight the rules are."Pickleball, pools and playgrounds in TerraLargo
Outdoor spaces are built into the community. Residents walk and jog on the wide sidewalks throughout the area. The tennis and pickleball courts, pool, playground and clubhouse are clustered near the community entrance. The clubhouse has an indoor fitness center with an attached play area for kids. Children also enjoy the shaded playground with a rock wall and rubber padding. The neighborhood pool is a community highlight, with a zero-depth entry and palm trees giving it a resort vibe. "There are a wide variety of people, from retired people soaking up the sun during the day to families in the afternoons and evenings," Wilson says. "It's quite a big pool, so even if there are a lot of people out there, it doesn't feel crowded."Kids attend Polk County Schools
Students usually follow one pipeline through Polk County Schools, beginning with Sleepy Hill Elementary. It earns a C-plus from Niche. The school promotes parent involvement with family-night activities such as Reading Under the Stars. It also offers before- and after-school care with homework help. Kids can progress to Sleepy Hill Middle School, which earns a C. Kathleen Senior High earns a C-plus and offers career training with academies of agricultural science, digital media, health science and aerospace.A variety of stores at Lakeland Square Mall
A variety of shopping options are about a mile away. Lakeland Square Mall is a traditional indoor mall with a Cinemark movie theater, a food court and well-known retailers, including American Eagle, H&M and JCPenney. Local specialty stores are also sprinkled in, including Game Attic, which sells anime collectibles, video games and consoles. Sam's Club, Aldi and Target Grocery are less than 2 miles away on U.S. Highway 98. Thai Chili Pepper is a highly-rated stop serving fried rice, stir fry, noodles and curry.TerraLargo is a destination for garage sales and trick-or-treating
TerraLargo opens its gates for special occasions. Lakelanders flock from far and wide for the annual garage sale. "They make it a big thing and put a sign up front to advertise. A lot of people come to it," Wilson says. The neighborhood is also a trick-or-treating destination on Halloween. It's decked out for the Fourth of July, Memorial Day and other holidays throughout the year. "They are a pretty America-proud community, so they support a lot of the traditional holidays with decorations," Wilson says.I-4 goes to Tampa and Orlando
Residents can get around their sidewalk-friendly neighborhood on foot. The gold bus route, through Citrus Connection, is about a 25-minute walk. TerraLargo is about 5 miles from downtown Lakeland, and Florida Ave leads south to the city center. I-4 access is one of this neighborhood's perks. It's a convenient connection to Tampa, about 35 miles southwest, and Orlando, about 55 miles northeast. About 4 miles south, Lakeland Regional Health is one of the state's largest hospitals, with 910 beds and a full range of medical services.Neighborhood watch helps deter crime

"Generally, you have such good neighbors that you don't have to worry about people getting into your stuff," Wilson says. "People usually look out for one another."
