Suburban streets bordering industrial space and airport
Northwestside has a quiet suburban atmosphere occasionally interrupted by a train whistle or the sound of a passing plane from the nearby Central Region International Airport. Residents are close to parks, schools and restaurants and have a straight shot downtown, making this one of Lansing's more convenient suburbs. Northwestside is also a growing industrial hub, with businesses like Palmer Engineering, Peckham, Inc. and Madar Metal Fabricating in the neighborhood. "There's been a lot of new commercial construction in the area. A lot of stores are getting built nearby," says Realtor Gabriel Lopez, who sells homes in the neighborhood with Trubrook.

Bungalows, ranch styles and bi-levels with character
"It's not a cookie-cutter neighborhood,” says Realtor Sue Dickinson, who sells homes in Northwestside with Five Star Real Estate. “The homes have their own character.” The neighborhood's most affordable houses are on the east side, just north of Grand River Avenue, which runs diagonally through the neighborhood. That's where mid-century, wood-exterior bungalows are priced from $70,000 to $160,000. These homes often have flower beds in the front yards and detached garages in the backyards. The rest of Northwestside's houses are south of Grand River Avenue. Brick ranch styles from the 1960s are priced from $140,000 to $275,000, while brick and vinyl-exterior bi-levels from the same period are priced from $270,000 to $330,000. "The property values are very reasonable for what you get," Dickinson says.
Ranch homes are a popular style in Lansing including in the Northwestside neighborhood.
