Lakeside living in central Pinellas County
Lake Park is a picturesque suburb overlooking Seminole Lake in central Pinellas County. Sidewalks separate the narrow streets from neatly trimmed lawns. Manicured garden beds feature ornamental palms and flowering shrubs. “It’s a walkable, friendly neighborhood. My sister actually used to drive there to go for jogs, it’s so pretty,” says Realtor Forrest Murphy Jr. of Realty Experts Inc, who’s done nearly 50 sales in the community. But the aesthetic isn’t the only draw. “A lot of neighborhoods don’t seem very connected -- this one is different. Every December, they have an annual drive to raise money for Suncoast Hospice, where people of all faiths decorate their homes for the holidays. People drive in from all over the county to see it,” Murphy says.
Lake Park includes several subdivisions, with Lake Park Estates as the largest. Others like Starkey Heights, the Woods at Lake Seminole, and Lake Seminole Village add variety. While most properties are single-family homes in New Traditional, Contemporary, or ranch styles, townhomes and villas can al

A steady market for New Traditional and Contemporary homes
The community comprises several subdivisions, the largest of which is its namesake, Lake Park Estates. Others include Starkey Heights, the Woods at Lake Seminole and Lake Seminole Village. Most homes are New Traditional, Contemporary or ranch-style single-family properties, but townhomes and villas are available in Lake Seminole Village. Single-family home prices start close to $210,000 and quickly rise to more than $870,000. Townhomes and villas typically range between $300,000 and $400,000. HOA fees vary by subdivision. “It’s a stable market. For a few years, every listing sold in the first weekend, but we’re beyond that crazy market now. If they’re priced well, homes sell within a month or so,” Murphy says. Flooding and wind damage are concerns during hurricane season, but flood insurance is not required everywhere. “It depends on the house. The ones very close to Lake Seminole are in a flood zone, but then there’s a ridge, so the homes in the middle of the neighborhood are at a higher elevation and out of the flood zone,” Murphy says.
In Lake Park, single-family home prices start close to $210,000 and quickly rise to more than $870,000.
Homes in Lake Park tend to feature larger front yards with moderate sized fenced-in back yards.

Outdoor recreation on and around Lake Seminole
“People like to take their boats out on the water and water ski or fish, all of that kind of activity on the lake,” Murphy says. Many homes on Harborside Drive have private boat docks, and public boat access is available in Lake Seminole Park. The nearly 300-acre natural area is home to alligators, eagles, turtles and more. “It has a walking trail through the woods and playgrounds, and the best thing is it’s only three minutes away. People love being that close to a public park,” Murphy says. Youth baseball teams play at the nearby Cross Bayou Complex. And to the north, Hasenbeck Equestrian offers training, boarding facilities and riding lessons. Gulf-front beaches in the neighboring city of Indian Rocks Beach are less than 10 miles away, typically just a 20-minute drive.
Cross Bayou Sports Complex is where many Lake Park residents will go for outdoor recreation when it's open a few days of the week.
Living right on Lake Seminole, many Lake Park residents own boats and will find themselves on the water on any given afternoon.

B-rated Pinellas County Schools
The Pinellas County Schools district allows school choice. Lake Park is zoned to Starkey Elementary, Osceola Middle and Pinellas Park High. The elementary school earns a B-plus from Niche, while the middle and high schools earn Bs. Pinellas Park offers four-year first responder and criminal justice magnet programs. Plato Seminole, located just across the lake, is a B-rated public charter school for kindergarten through eighth grade. A-rated Osceola Fundamental High School is also close. The fundamental schooling philosophy emphasizes parent involvement and a stricter dress code than traditional public schools. Osceola Fundamental is the only high school of its kind in Florida.
Starkey Elementary school is a B+ rated public school serving the kids of Lake Park.
Pinellas Park High School serves students from ninth through twelfth grade in Lake Park.

Close to shopping/dining in Bardmoor Promenade and on Starkey Road
The Bardmoor Promenade shopping center has a Publix and an Ace Hardware. It’s across the street from the Bardmoor Emergency Center and other medical facilities, and close to national chain restaurants like Applebee’s and Moe’s. “Everybody goes to two local diners, Golden Bear Restaurant and Clubhouse Café & Grill,” Murphy says. Both are known for classic American fare; Clubhouse is in Bardmoor Promenade, and Golden Bear is a few minutes north up Starkey Road.
The Clubhouse Cafe & Grill welcomes hungry residents of Lake Park.
Residents of Lake Park looking for things to help fix up their homes might head to the local Ace Hardware nearby.

Convenient central Pinellas County commuting
“Lake Park is almost directly in the middle of Pinellas County, so it’s the perfect exit point to go any direction,” Murphy says. PSTA bus stops on Starkey Road and 102nd Avenue are within about a mile of most homes. Routes run to destinations like HCA Florida Largo Hospital, 6 miles away, and Largo Mall, just over 3 miles away. St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport is around 7 miles away, an under-20-minute drive without traffic on Bryan Dairy Road. The nearly 20-mile drive to Tampa International Airport takes less than 30 minutes with no traffic on Interstate 275. Lake Park’s CAP Index Crime Score is 2 out of 10, lower than the national average of 4.
Thanks to plentiful PSTA bus stops throughout Lake Park, residents will always have convenient public transportation to just about anywhere in the area.
