Fayette County Public Schools and Trinity Christian Academy

Students in River Park attend Fayette County Public Schools, a district with an overall A-minus grade on Niche. They start at the B-minus-rated Millcreek Elementary, which is located in the neighborhood, meaning some students can walk to it. They continue to the B-rated Tates Creek Middle School and B-minus-rated Tates Creek High School, which is divided into concentrated academies based on students’ interests. Less than a mile away, the private Trinity Christian Academy enrolls preschool through high school students and ranks on Niche as the best Christian high school in the Lexington area.

Between Man o’ War and New Circle Road

River Park is a car-dependent neighborhood in southeast Lexington between Man o’ War and New Circle Road. “It’s almost right between the two circles,” says Realtor Bob Sophiea. “It’s a very convenient place to live. New Circle’s one of the quickest ways to get around.” This location serves residents because, aside from some being able to walk to Millcreek Elementary or River Hill Park, people who live here rely on cars to get around. The neighborhood’s about 6 miles from downtown Lexington and 4 miles from the University of Kentucky. The neighborhood’s Lextran bus stop takes passengers to the university in 20 minutes and downtown in 30. The nearest hospital, Baptist Health Lexington, is 4 miles north, and the Blue Grass Airport is 9 miles west.

River Hill Park and Proof Fitness

River Park is home to River Hill Park, a neighborhood park known for its disc golf course. In addition, it has a walking path that loops the park, pickleball courts and a playground. The park also has a baseball diamond and a full-sized outdoor basketball court. Less than a mile away, Proof Fitness is a Lexington-based gym with personal trainers and onsite childcare.

Tates Creek Centre and the Fayette Mall

Just west of River Park across Tates Creek Road, the Tates Creek Centre provides convenient access to groceries at Kroger, prescription pickups at Walgreens and package deliveries at The UPS Store. Local restaurants like New Shanghai Bistro and Kyoto Japanese Kitchen make picking up dinner easy, as do the shopping center’s fast-food restaurants like Taco Bell, McDonald’s and Rally’s. Three miles west, the Fayette Mall is Kentucky’s largest shopping mall, home to nearly 200 retailers and a food court. Around the mall, additional shopping is available at big-box stores like Walmart and Target.

The Lexington Public Library

The nearby Tates Creek Branch of the Lexington Public Library offers a variety of programming for residents of all ages. New parents can take their babies and toddlers to morning and evening story times, and elementary school kids can hang out after school for playtime with activities organized by the library staff. Teens can take art classes, and adults can join book clubs and English language practice groups.
