Fox Hollow features a suburban atmosphere with access to recreation

When you live in Fox Hollow, you can get from the neighborhood’s rows of modern homes and manicured lawns to one of the largest parks in Lincoln in minutes. In fact, some of the properties in this southeast Lincoln neighborhood back up to the park and part of the 11-mile trail that cuts through it. The area’s green space lives in harmony with a pair of neighborhood shopping centers, both packed with businesses.

A mix of roomy homes on spacious lots fill Fox Hollow

Homes in Fox Hollow were built from the 1970s through the 2010s. Ranch-style and colonial-inspired options make up most of the selection, and many feature attached garages and brick or stone exterior touches. “Residents are almost competitively house-proud in Fox Hollow, “ says Chase Collier, a local Realtor with BHHS Ambassador Real Estate who has about six years of industry experience. “While not every home here has been updated or renovated, you’ll still see noticeable changes, including expanded gardens, fresh paint colors, new mailboxes and updated front porches. Owners work hard to make the most of what they have and to show off their home’s unique assets.”

Floor plans average almost 2,300 square feet, easily topping the Lincoln-wide average of about 1,800. Lots span at least one-fifth of an acre, leaving enough room for green, grassy front and back lawns. The area’s single-family homes typically sell for prices from the upper $200,000s to the upper $500,000s. Townhouses can range from the upper $300,000s to the mid-$400,000s. Not all properties come with HOAs, but those that do have fees anywhere between $10 and $130 per month.

Outdoor recreation weaves right into the neighborhood

A piece of Lincoln’s 270-acre Holmes Lake Park spills into Fox Hollow. Some homes run right up against a portion of the park and a section of the 11-mile paved Billy Wolff Trail. Even if you don’t live adjacent to the park, the sidewalks on every block in Fox Hollow can connect you to it. “It is a neighborhood that is a very close-knit community. It is really centered around outdoor activity and walking,” says local Realtor Marsha Artz, who’s with Home Real Estate and has about a decade of experience selling homes. The 110-acre Holmes Lake is the crown jewel of the park, a place where you can go fishing, kayaking or sailing. There’s also a playground area, ballfields, a dog park and the attached Holmes Lake Park Golf Course, which has 18 holes and is open to the public. “If it’s a nice day outside, you’re bound to find lots of families picnicking,” Artz says. “They have sand volleyball courts there that you can take advantage of. And on the lake itself, there’s always people fishing. And it has the most incredible sunsets, viewable around the lake.”

Retail and restaurant options line the corners around Fox Hollow

Two shopping centers sit at a pair of Fox Hollow’s corners. The Pioneer Woods Center is one, home to retailers including HobbyTown and Habitat, a kitchen supply store, as well as eateries like Venue Restaurant & Lounge, which is known for its steak, and The Oven, an Indian restaurant where food is cooked in a clay oven. The Meadows Shopping Center, on the opposite corner, offers a Dollar Tree, Scoops ice cream shop and High Peak Asian Restaurant, known for its pad thai. Both a Hy-Vee and a Fareway Meat Market sit just outside the neighborhood for grocery shopping.

Students can benefit from school walkability and choice

Fox Hollow is part of the highly rated Lincoln Public Schools district. Some students are close enough to walk to Lux Middle School, which serves those in grades 6 through 8. Lux offers intramural sports teams in cross-country, basketball, soccer, track and field, volleyball, and wrestling. LPS also allows for some flexibility in the schools students attend through its focus programs and open enrollment.

Multiple routes connect the neighborhood to downtown and beyond

Even though Fox Hollow is on Lincoln’s southeast outskirts, there are multiple ways to travel from here to other parts of the city. The options include:

  • Driving along Normal Boulevard, which can take you up toward the Nebraska State Capitol, Downtown Lincoln and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln City Campus, all located roughly 7 miles away
  • Hopping on the StarTran bus at one of the multiple stops that line thoroughfares like 70th Street and Pioneers Boulevard
  • Biking along the Billy Wolff Trail, which cuts through downtown
Those heading out of town can make the 13-mile drive over to the Lincoln Airport on the west side of the city. Lincoln Airport offers direct flights to Denver and Chicago.
