Elevated living close to the Arkansas River and downtown
Northwest of downtown, the upscale neighborhood of Foxcroft circles the prestigious Little Rock Racquet Club while offering views of a wooded valley from every doorstep. "It's beautiful. Mature trees surround the area," says Christy Robinson, Realtor for Keller Williams Realty. "All of the houses are different and unique and vary in price points." Just 7 miles from downtown, though the neighborhood lacks retail, its abundance of green space makes up for it. Locals are a short drive from the Arkansas River, cushioned by miles of trails, boat launches and waterside parks.
Membership at the Little Rock Racquet Club
Most residents are members of the Little Rock Racquet Club, which sits right in the heart of the neighborhood. The club is recognized for its 16 tennis courts – complete with eight hard, four indoor and eight clay – often used for tournaments. The amenities extend to its three indoor pools: one 50-meter lap, one 25-yarder for laps and recreation and a kiddie area. The club also offers a playground, basketball court, sauna and steam rooms. Its fitness center has unlimited classes, while the Overlook Grill awaits tuckered-out players for lunch. Reservoir Park borders Foxcroft to the south. On March 31, 2023, the once heavily wooded 58-acre park was devastated by an EF3 status Tornado that destroyed much of the green space. The city proposes an estimated $1 million to fund and reopen the park, which could take a few years. Within a 5-mile radius are several other outdoor recreation spaces: Paws Park at Murray, the members-only Pleasant Valley Country Club and River Mountain Park, along the Arkansas River. River Mountain Park offers 10 miles of biking and hiking trails, casting views over the 4,226-foot Big Dam Bridge. The river is also a popular go-to hangout for launching boats and fishing for blue catfish.
Close to All Aboard Restaurant & Grill
A handful of restaurants line the neighborhood's southeastern edge, offering a variety of cuisine. Among the most popular is Trios on the other side of Cantrell Road, which has been open since 1986. This New American joint has a small but flavorful menu, with lunch specials including Greek quiche and tri-tip steak Zapata rounding out the dinner offerings. All Aboard Restaurant & Grill is further down that street, a charming little spot for dinner with big booths and kitschy train-themed decor. Their menu of classic American Fare is unique as it is delivered to patrons on a mini train, adding to its allure. Trio's is just across the street from Cantrell Heights Shopping Center, a one-stop shop for everyday essentials like gyms, barbers and chain restaurants. The one thing it's missing is groceries, but an Edwards Food Giant sits just off the neighborhood's southeastern corner. For more extensive retail, Foxcroft is 3 miles from Park Plaza Mall and 8 miles from Promenade at Chenal, an open-air district with a mix of casual and upscale boutiques and big names.
Secluded by trees in Foxcroft
Walking into this gated community, scores of properties built from the 1960s to the early 2000s, all sharing their personalities on all corners. "Since this one is gated and very exclusive, it goes a little higher but comes with many amenities," Robinson says. One side of the street could be lined with French-inspired Traditionals on lots just under a half-acre, complete with front porches, two-car garages, sunrooms and woodsy, open backyards. Others Down the road are Craftsman and Mission-style houses with sprawling driveways, extensive porches and decks overlooking the sylvan countryside. Prices tend to start around $350,000 to $700,000 and reach upwards of $1 Million for contemporary homes over 4,000 square feet. On March 31, 2023, Pulaski County was devastated by a category EF3 tornado that destroyed many homes, businesses and parks and changed the environmental landscape for years to come. Homebuyers should opt for windstorm insurance.
Learning with the Little Rock School District
Though Foxcroft doesn't house schools, students don't have to trek too far each morning. The Little Rock School District is home to the National Blue-Ribbon School Jefferson Elementary, less than 2 miles east and rated with an A-minus on Niche. Graduates feed into B-rated Pulaski Heights Middle, which has better-than-state-average test scores, before finishing their secondary academic journey at A-rated Central High. It was hailed as Arkansas' best public school in 2021 and 2022 and named the "Most Beautiful School" in the country by the American Institute of Architects for its blend of Art Deco and Gothic styles.
Easy access to Interstate 430
Though tucked along the river, access to highways is a breeze. Primary thoroughfares include Cantrell Road, Interstate 430, Interstate 630 and U.S. 70 to the south. The trip downtown is less than 12 minutes, a 7-mile drive on 1-630 West. There are a few bus stops on Keightley Drive & Cantrell Road run by Rock Region Metro. The neighborhood is 13 miles from Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport and 3 miles from St. Vincent Infirmary for 24/7 emergency care.
