Neighborhood in Little Rock, Arkansas
Pulaski County 72113
Believe it or not, you can live along the water, by the mountains and near the highways simultaneously. Introducing Mountain Crest Estates, an upscale and gated neighborhood with unparalleled views of Little Rock’s natural wonders, where luxury is commonplace and feelings of seclusion don’t mean you’re more than 20 miles from the city center.
This community’s biggest thing is residential space, and there’s certainly no shortage of it here. Its few streets cut through the heart of the neighborhood, separated by neighboring Maumelle to the east by a patch of dense woods and leaving panoramic views of the Arkansas River and Pinnacle Mountain to the east. Most homes here – namely, New Traditionals – were built as recently as 2020, set on lots eclipsing an acre and offering rare amenities like three garages, walkout balconies, wide and fenced backyards, and covered porches overlooking the terrain. Also supported by a homeowner’s association, these properties typically sell for $750,000 or more, with more development on the way for those wanting to custom-build their future homes.
Though Mountain Crest Estates doesn’t have any parks, the water just steps from your front door can make up for it. A boat launch sits just off the neighborhood’s northwestern corner for a peaceful day floating across the stream or for an exciting afternoon of fishing, with common finds here including largemouth bass, catfish and crappie. The closest traditional park awaits 6 miles southeast in the heart of Maumelle: At Lake Willastein Park, you can hike or bike along the paved paths, cast your fishing rod into the park’s namesake lake, roam around the turfed butter-yellow playset or lay out a spread on one of the picnic tables. History buffs flock here, too, to explore its World War II bunkers, one of which appears on the National Register of Historic Places.
You have to travel into Maumelle for school, too. The youngest students start at Pine Forest Elementary, rated B by Niche, before moving on to Maumelle Middle, which offers technology training to both students and teachers, and Maumelle High, offering resources for career exploration and college prep. Anyone in the Pulaski Special School District is free to apply to their school of choice as well, if the zoned schools don’t suffice.
You can stay right in the neighborhood for dinner, though. Sitting almost directly in its heart along Highway 365 is Tavern Round the Bend, a full-service bar that always has an event going on, whether it’s Saturday karaoke, Sunday comedy shows or Tuesday billiards leagues. Its dining menu is small – mostly specializing in classic American fare like mushroom, onion and swiss burgers or lemon pepper wings – but reasonably priced for its portions. Since this is Mountain Crest Estates’ only dining stop, for a night of splurging, residents typically head to Maumelle or closer to Downtown Little Rock for a bite to eat, where a Walmart Supercenter also awaits those in need or groceries or other everyday essentials. A Harps Foods sits 2 miles closer in the opposite direction, too.
Picturesque, quiet living within minutes of the city – that’s life in Mountain Crest Estates.
