Lubbock's annual events
The South Plains Fair, which has been held since 1914, takes place in September with amusement rides, food vendors and live entertainment. Usually held in April, Ranch Day features demonstrations, farm animals and informative exhibits at the National Ranching Heritage Center. Also in April, the Lubbock Arts Festival offers exhibits and performances from over 100 artists. In September, The Flatland Film Festival showcases films from around the world. And the Clapp Park Pumpkin Trail provides a family-friendly activity for Halloween.
Getting around on the Lubbock Loop
State Route 289, also known as the Lubbock Loop, is the main way residents get around the city. “If you look at a map, you see this nice circle around us,” says Wendy Jones, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty, who’s been selling homes in the area since 2006. “That is our loop, and it gets us everywhere we need to go.” U.S. Route 62 borders the neighborhood and runs into the heart of Lubbock. The Covenant Medical Center is 7 miles west, while Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport is 6 miles north.

Most shopping and dining is a few miles away. United Supermarkets is 2 miles north on Parkway Drive. Chains and local restaurants like Polibertos serve Mexican food nearby.
