A newly-developed area in Lynchburg

Wyndhurst is a mixed-use Lynchburg neighborhood with a town square feel. Neighbors can walk up the hill from their condominiums to a sidewalk-lined business district where barbershops, pizzerias and real estate offices operate from small brick buildings. “Wyndhurst has been developing for no more than 15 years or so,” says Sabrina Tomlin, a Realtor with NextHome TwoFourFive who was born and raised in Lynchburg. “It’s an upbeat area since its newer. People appreciate the convenience and can walk to many places nearby.” The Jamerson Family YMCA is within walking distance of some townhouses and businesses. “I always see my coworkers walk to the Y and come back, all during their lunch break,” says Cindy Petry, owner of Wyndhurst Medical Aesthetics in the neighborhood. “As long as the weather permits, you can walk almost anywhere.”

Dining locally in Wyndhurst

Wyndhurst’s business district has a collection of small, local restaurants, including the Muse Coffee Company and Outside the Cone, a handmade ice cream spot. “People love the fact that there are so many mom-and-pop shops,” Tomlin says. The Neighbors Place has a stone-wall interior and dim lighting for family outings or date nights. Diners can enjoy appetizers with a cold beer at Scoreboards Sports Grill, which has karaoke nights on Wednesdays. People can restock groceries at the Kroger on Timberlake Road.

Wyndhurst is a great neighborhood for families, Petry says, since it has a tight-knit feel. “I like the community feel it has, and always see people walking their kids,” she says. “I moved here to go to school at Liberty [University] and ended up being one of the transplants that never left.”
