A compact community around Lynn Commons

Central Lynn, located about 10 miles north of Boston, is a compact community with convenient access to public transportation. At the heart of the community is Lynn Commons, a grassy park surrounded by nonprofit organizations and churches, including Saint George Greek Orthodox Church and Iglesia Evangelica Luz Y Vida. Wide neighborhood sidewalks allow residents to get to and from area restaurants and playgrounds. Children may attend Lynn Public Schools, which offers a STEM-based elementary school. “There is a lot of money coming into the area,” says Javier Hurtado Grandon, Realtor with Keller Williams Boston Metrowest, who has lived in the greater Boston area for nearly 20 years. “The commuter rail station is getting upgraded, and developers are buying old buildings and converting them into condos.”

Individual units generally list from the $200,000s to the $500,000s. Entire multifamily buildings also come up for sale; some have two or three units, while others have 14 or more. These often sell between $800,000 and $4 million. A handful of small single-family homes remain — most were built in the early 1900s. Recent sales for these have ranged between $400,000 and $600,000.
