A compact community around Lynn Commons
Central Lynn, located about 10 miles north of Boston, is a compact community with convenient access to public transportation. At the heart of the community is Lynn Commons, a grassy park surrounded by nonprofit organizations and churches, including Saint George Greek Orthodox Church and Iglesia Evangelica Luz Y Vida. Wide neighborhood sidewalks allow residents to get to and from area restaurants and playgrounds. Children may attend Lynn Public Schools, which offers a STEM-based elementary school. “There is a lot of money coming into the area,” says Javier Hurtado Grandon, Realtor with Keller Williams Boston Metrowest, who has lived in the greater Boston area for nearly 20 years. “The commuter rail station is getting upgraded, and developers are buying old buildings and converting them into condos.”
Fresh pupusas on Western Avenue and bodegas on Market Square
Locals can take the neighborhood sidewalks to Tony’s Pub & Grill, where they can watch sports on the 26 high-definition TVs while they nosh on steak tips and other casual fare. Angelina’s Sub Shop is along Washington Street — it has served pizza and subs to the community for more than 60 years. On Western Avenue, diners can find a Dunkin’ as well as several locally owned restaurants that specialize in Mexican and Colombian-style food. One option is Antojitos, which offers Salvadorean-style pupusas, fresh seafood and homemade soups. Closer to Central Avenue is a Lynn dining hotspot, with restaurants such as The Blue Ox, which is known for its award-winning sin burger. “They have a seasonal menu, and everything is delicious,” Hurtado Grandon says. “There’s also a taco truck nearby called Mi Corazon Taqueria. Their birria tacos are unreal.” Home chefs can stop by the bodegas on Market Square to find specialty ingredients or head to Market Basket, which is just a few blocks west of most houses in the community.
