Peaceful living in a Lynn community
Indian Ridge is a primarily residential area with many small lakes and green spaces near downtown Lynn, one of the oldest cities in the country. Located about 12 miles north of Boston, the community is appealing to homebuyers who seek a convenient commute into the city. “An attractive point about Lynn is its low housing price,” says Jose Rojas, a Realtor at Success! Real Estate with over 20 years of experience in the Boston Market. In addition to having a commuter rail station right in the city, the neighborhood is also close to the Lynn Woods Reservation and Nahant Bay, giving people plenty of outdoor opportunities to hike in the woods or enjoy water sports by the beach.
Peaceful homes dot Indian Ridge
Neighborhood homes sit close to the car-lined streets and sidewalks, leaving little room for yards and green space in the front. Porticos, porches and picket fences are common, and many houses are built with raised foundations to complement the area’s hilly landscape. Dating from the early 1900s to the 1960s, common single-family architecture includes ranch styles, raised ranches, Craftsman Bungalows and eclectic New England styles with gabled roofs and stone foundations. Often listing between $500,000 and $650,000, these properties are around 1,000 to 2,000 square feet with lots averaging 5,000 square feet to a quarter-acre. There are also newly developed three-bedroom townhouses selling from around $580,000 to $600,000, and these communities require monthly HOA fees. “The area has become increasingly popular among developers,” says Lisa Sheehan, senior luxury advisor at Senne Residential.

Several blocks east, Flax Pond Rest Area is a popular spot for locals to walk their dogs. The park also features public tennis courts and play areas. The Agganis Athletic Complex has both Manning Field and Frasier Baseball Field that are used for local league games and practices, and the Lynn Woods Reservation is a large municipal park with over 30 miles of hiking trails.
