The Sloan-Carmel area is part of the DeSoto Parish School District. Mansfield Elementary School earns a C-plus from Niche. Mansfield Middle School and Mansfield High School receive a C. The high school offers career and technical education courses like manufacturing and website design.
Mansfield High School also serves Sloan-Carmel students in the area.

Highways connect to Mansfield and Shreveport nearby
Residents must have a car to get around Sloan-Carmel. Highway 509 leads into Mansfield, while Interstate 49 connects the region to Shreveport, about 30 miles away. The closest emergency room is in Mansfield, at the DeSoto Regional Health System. Most people fly out of Shreveport Regional Airport, about 33 miles away, which offers nonstop flights to 9 cities.

Residents can get groceries from Brookshire’s and do the rest of their shopping at Walmart. Target and Lowe’s are about 28 miles away.
