Residential neighborhood in Mesquite
With seven streets named after Native American Tribes, Indian Trails is a small neighborhood in Mesquite, a suburb of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. “The big thing there would be affordability,” says Sara Hudler, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Apex, Realtors. “That area is a mature neighborhood. The school district is great and there are lots of programs for kids.” Just down the road are B.J. Smith Elementary School and Judge Frank Berry Middle School, and several shopping centers are within 5 miles. Indian Trails has a crime score of 2 from the CAP Index, lower than the national average of 4.
Many Indian Trails homes feature spacious backyards, perfect for pools and kids' play equipment.

Seven streets of New Traditional homes
Most homes are New Traditional styles, built in the late 1980s and after. These homes sit on larger lots and tend to have one or two trees in their front yard. Some homes may have circular driveways, but most properties have backyard alleys leading to a detached garage. Prices can range from about $260,000 to $425,000. There are single- and two-story homes, but most of the neighborhood consists of single-story properties. Some homes have in-ground pools in the back yards.

Highways and interstates to downtown Dallas
Mesquite does not have public transportation, but does provide a straight shot into Dallas, according to Hudler. Indian Trails is close to Highway 80, Interstate 635, and Mesquite Metro Airport. The public-use airport does not provide passenger flights, but it supports operations for the fire department, medical flights and search and rescue, as well as pipeline and wildfire patrols. Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is about 40 miles west.
Rutherford Recreation Center and Mesquite events
Rutherford Recreation Center has classes and programs throughout the year. “Mesquite does a good job with events,” says Hudler. “They’re good at helping people get involved.” Mesquite hosts 13 annual events, including a Daddy Daughter Dance in February, open to all ages.
