Clock Tower Acres is a changing, industrial-chic Milwaukee community
A massive clock sits on top of the Rockwell Automation headquarters, giving this south side Milwaukee neighborhood its name. Time and the growing trendiness of nearby Bay View are turning Clock Tower Acres, a well-worn industrial hub, into a modern mixed-use district along the Kinnickinnic River. Cool restaurants and nightlife spots are a short walk from blocks of historic bungalows and chic, warehouse condo conversions. Commuting around Milwaukee is easy, whether you’re catching a Milwaukee County Transit System bus, driving on First Street, biking up Second Street or finding the nearest Interstate 94 entrance.

Costs of loft condos and classic homes in southern Milwaukee
“The area is definitely turning around. There are a lot of industrial buildings getting turned into condos and brand new apartments being built,” says Jennifer Luna, owner of Luna Listings, who’s served Milwaukee County and the surrounding areas since 2004. Loft condos in these buildings often have trendy features like exposed ceiling beams, walls made of Milwaukee’s signature Cream City bricks or views of Milwaukee’s skyline and Lake Michigan. Down the block from these post-industrial properties, buyers can find humble National cottages and bungalows built around the turn of the 20th century.
Single-family homes sell from the lower $100,000s to the mid-$200,000s. Condo units sell in the $200,000s. Clock Tower Acres has a median single-family home price in the lower $200,000s. That’s higher than nearby Walker's Point, Historic Mitchell Street and Lincoln Village, but lower than Bay View. While there are still opportunities for buyers to own homes and condos, the majority of residents rent here.
