Tranquil suburban-living in southwestern Mobile
The Milkhouse neighborhood of Mobile is the archetype of suburban living: cul-de-sacs of single-family homes on large, manicured lawns. However, the neighborhood isn’t cookie-cutter, showcasing an array of architecture for houses with plenty of character. “It’s quiet and mostly residential, but there’s a very close drive to restaurants and stores,” says team leader Elaine Sessions who has 15 years of experience and works with The Sessions Team at Roberts Brothers West office. For a lively dose of retail, residents can access extensive strip mall eateries and stores.
Federal mansions and French-influenced homes
West of downtown Mobile, a namesake creek runs through the length of the Milkhouse neighborhood. The area is mostly composed of cul-de-sacs and winding roads of single-family houses. Common with suburbs, Milkhouse isn’t walkable but has spacious yards, some over an acre in size and well-kept with pruned shrubs and mature trees. Most of the houses are from the 1980s and 1990s. The diverse styles include French-influenced houses with mansard roofs, colonial homes accented by coupled columns, Victorians with bay windows and Federal mansions featuring large columns. “The area is moderately priced overall, but there is some variation depending on the street. Most homes are in the $200,000s,” Sessions says. Sales prices range from $218,000 for French-influenced home to $790,000 for a Federal mansion.
Milkhouse features larger Colonial Style homes with French-inspired roofs.
Milkhouse is home to Colonial Style houses as well.
