Basketball courts, playgrounds and river views in local parks
Residents enjoy the amenities of Mount Wolf Community Park, which include basketball and tennis courts, playground equipment and pavilions for picnics. Next to the park is the Mount Wolf Ballfield, where local youth and amateur athletes can practice their swing. The nearby Greiman Park also offers softball and baseball fields. Adventurous locals have access to the Susquehanna River, where they can fish, boat or paddle. Across the river are the White Cliffs of Conoy, named after the White Cliffs of Dover in England. The cliffs sit about 30 feet above the riverbank, offering lovely views of the water. These cliffs aren’t a result of Mother Nature but rather the byproduct of waste from a limestone and dolomite quarry that operated in the 1800s. Many reach the cliffs via the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail, the shortest route being from Koser Park in Bainbridge, a mile-and-a-half hike south. There’s also a three-mile paved trail to the cliffs heading north from Riverfront Park. Hiking to the cliffs and enjoying the view makes for a pleasant afternoon for outdoorsy locals.
