For those seeking a balance between a quiet life at home and the eclectic happenings in town, Cambridge offers the best of both worlds. This Mundelein residential area offers walkable parks, easy access to restaurants and events in the downtown area and contemporary homes for today’s families.
Cambridge has many homes from the 1980s and 1990s. Residents live in new traditional homes with vinyl and brick exteriors, asphalt roofs and decorative shutters. A small number of homes include touches like Tudor-style timber frames and rows of windows designed to evoke Colonial Revival architecture. The Mundelein Metra station is about 2 miles east of the neighborhood, and commuters can expect a 1 hour and 15-minute train ride into Chicago during peak hours. The neighborhood is less than two miles away from central Mundelein, making it simple to reach some of the village’s distinctive eateries. Tina G’s offers refined New American and Italian dishes for lunch and dinner. Taste of Paris serves bakery items and all-day French meals, and its interior features a replica of the Eiffel Tower’s base. Luke’s of Mundelein keeps things familiar with Chicago-style dogs and beef sandwiches, while Tony Cannoli is a go-to for dessert. To the neighborhood’s immediate south, Walgreens and Aldi stores provide convenient shopping stops for everyday needs. Additional major retailers nearby include Jewel-Osco to the north, Target, T.J. Maxx and the Home Depot to the northwest and the Hawthorn Mall to the east in Vernon Hills.
Many of Cambridge’s convenient outings are in downtown Mundelein. Tighthead Brewing Company serves craft beer and pub fare in the heart of the village. The annual Mundelein Craft Beer Festival happens each June at Tighthead. The festivities include a range of selections from local breweries and vendors, food trucks, live music and outdoor games. Additional events include Park on Park classic car shows in the summer, the Mundelein Arts Festival in the early fall and WinterFest each December.
