Close to shopping, transportation and employment in Glenrock

Only 14 miles from the largest naval complex in the world and 5 miles from downtown Norfolk, Glenrock is an urban neighborhood appreciated for its access to transportation and shopping. Norfolk is known for its Naval Station Norfolk, and many residents have some connection to the facility. “One of the biggest assets is accessibility to Interstates 264 and 64,” says Wendy Plemmons, an associate broker and Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices RW Towne Realty, who has 22 years of experience in the area. “There’s a lot of shopping around.” Most employers, recreation, shopping and dining are no more than 30 minutes away and Sentara Leigh Hospital is nearby.

Single-family homes with a little more privacy

“It’s not a cut-through neighborhood,” says Plemmons. “It’s kind of tucked away. It’s not a big neighborhood; it’s a little more private back there.” Glenrock is bordered by sound barriers and lined with trees to block noise from the nearby interstates. Streets are gridded and have no sidewalks. Homes are in the New Traditional, minimal traditional, Cape Cod and ranch-styles and range from $255,000 to $440,000, with over half of residents renting. Glenrock's CAP Index crime score is 4 out of 10, which is on par with the national average of 4.
