Keystone Point
Water access and Spanish-revival architecture
Keystone Point comprises 10 subdivisions. Little Arch Creek snakes through the neighborhood and leads into Biscayne Bay. The contours of the community create cul-de-sacs and give many homes a view of the water — as well as critters like manatees and stingrays, which will swim up to houses in the community. Randy Rose of Rose and Rose Realty says his family moved to the neighborhood in 1956 when he was 2. "I used to paddle into the creek from our dock," he says. "We would go fishing from our backyards. We would water ski. The air is clean, and the water is clear." A mix of palm trees and other subtropical plants provide scenery to residents while strolling the community's sidewalks. Keystone Point primarily features Spanish-revival, ranch-style and multi-level houses with three to four bedrooms built in the 1950s, although the neighborhood also has larger contemporary homes. Inland homes commonly range from $1.2 million to $3 million. Waterfront homes typically range from $3.5 million to $10 million. The community also has one- to two-bedroom condos that generally range from $200,000 to $350,000. Flooding and high winds are concerns for the area. Homebuyers should prepare for potential storms, and lenders may require flood insurance.Boating, dancing and roller skating
Boaters can jet to Biscayne Bay's Haulover Sandbar, a popular weekend party spot where dancing is encouraged and "food boats" ensure everyone stays fed. American crocodiles, manatees, great-horned owls and pelicans call Arch Creek Environmental Preserve home. The public can explore the park's 13 acres of land daily at no cost. Basketball and pickleball players can play at Keystone Park, which also features a playground and a tiki hut. The nearby Miami Shores Country Club, which opened in 1939, has seen celebrities like Arnold Palmer and Joe DiMaggio grace its greens. For indoor fun, people can head to Dezerland Action Park for roller skating, go-karts and an arcade.Lavish Japanese dining at Makoto
With its colorful menus, tile floors and wood accents, Little Havana lets diners experience traditional Cuban flair. Flanigan's Seafood Bar and Grill has a casual atmosphere and TVs on the walls. Nearby Bal Harbour has more upscale options. Makoto, which serves Japanese cuisine, has a third floor arranged by renowned architect and designer India Mahdavi that features pink walls, yellow booths and floral chair upholstery. Bal Harbour Shops is a high-end mall with stores from luxury designers like Dolce & Gabbana and Balenciaga, alongside several food and drink options. Keystone Shopping Center counts a Pet Supermarket, a Dunkin' and a Supercuts among its stores. Keystone Point is also a short drive from Publix and Whole Foods. "Keystone Point is in one of the fastest-growing parts of Miami," says Jessica Wolf, a Realtor with LUXE Properties. "You can find whatever you want there."Christmas transforms the neighborhood
The Keystone Point Neighborhood Association is voluntary to join and throws annual events like a cook-off and a fishing tournament for its members. Each December, Keystone Point's 137th Terrace transforms into North Miami's Enchanted Lane. The street's homes are covered with Christmas decorations, painting the night in red and green lights while giant snowmen and other characters greet passersby. The attraction has been a South Florida staple since 1988.Schools fit for ambitious students
Keystone Point is zoned for Miami-Dade County Public Schools, which allows parents to choose the schools their children attend. Nearby options include the David Lawrence Jr. K-8 Center, which has a B rating on Niche. High school students can attend Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Senior High School Biscayne Bay Campus, which has a B-plus rating and offers students dual enrollment for college credits through Miami Dade College. Students can attend private schools like Miami Country Day, a K-12 school with an A-plus Niche rating. The Spartans' girls basketball program has won nine state championships since 2014.Downtown Miami is within 15 miles
Although most people travel by car, there are nearby bus stops for the Miami-Dade Transit Metrobus. Keystone Point residents can make the 15-mile trip south to downtown Miami via I-95. They can also relax in the sand; Miami Beach is a 16-mile drive on I-195. Miami International Airport is 14 miles away. HCA Florida Aventura Hospital is about a 5-mile drive.
