Rolling farmland and a quiet life in North Woodbury

North Woodbury, a township in central Pennsylvania’s Blair County, is home to about 2,000 people. “It’s beautiful, rolling farmland,” says Tammy Bogel, a Realtor with Stultz Real Estate who has sold many homes in the area. Bogel says the country setting is appealing for families and offers a “homey environment.” Residents enjoy the laid-back pace and can drive about 22 miles northwest to Altoona when they need big city amenities. Farming is a way of life for the community, with the area full of dairy farms and orchards, schools offering agriculture classes and residents stopping by farm stands regularly to pick up fresh produce.

The North Woodbury Police Department employs three officers, whom residents know by name. The area is home to an Old Order Mennonite church and has a volunteer fire company.

Housing options vary. “It’s very diverse because you have a very large mobile home park, but then there are very nice developments with two-story homes,” says Bogel. Larger homes range between 2,000 and 3,500 square feet, and many have garages. Smaller homes are closer to 1,400 square feet. Most areas do not have an HOA. Many lots are larger than 1 acre.
