One of Paduca's most affordable neighborhoods
Paducah's east side neighborhood of Farley Place offers quiet residential streets lined with mid-century single-family houses, many of which are fixer-uppers. "Most people are here because they have some kind of family connection," says Realtor Chris Fulton, who sells homes in the area with Chris Fulton Real Estate. Farley Place is attractive to homebuyers because its median home price is more than half that of Paducah. "Locals work at retailers in the area, but there are also big companies nearby like Jackson Purchase Energy and Paducah Power," says Realtor Stewart Weisenberger, who sells homes in the area with Farmer & Company Real Estate.

Fixer-upper houses
The neighborhood offers promising opportunities to find fixer-upper homes, many of which are rental properties. Bungalows from the 1940s and 50s sell for between $15,000 and $100,000. Wood-exterior ranch-style houses sell for as low as $60,000, and brick ranch-style houses sell for as high as $120,000. Old-growth trees shade most years, and there is typically enough space for patios and barbecues.

A neighborhood near the nexus of the Tennessee and Ohio rivers
Farley Place borders the banks of the Tennessee River where it converges with the Ohio River. Residents launch kayaks into these rivers to catch channel catfish, bluegill and largemouth bass. Folks also like swimming in the fresh waters. Less than half a mile north of the neighborhood, residents take their children to the playground at Kolb Park.

There are several dining options about a mile southeast of the neighborhood along Irvin Cobb Drive. Dining options include Burger King, Wendy's and Sonic Drive-In. Latin music plays in Los Amigos, where hardy plates of enchiladas are served with salty margaritas. The street is also lined with big-box stores like Kroger, Lowe's and Walmart. Residents can walk to the Family Dollar on the southwest corner of the neighborhood. Local businesses such as boat and engine dealers and a tire shop border Farley Place.

Movies, live performances and festivals in the downtown
Paducah's downtown offers a strong arts scene with multiple entertainment opportunities for fun night outs. To catch a new film release or even a classic, Maiden Alley Cinema is less than 2 miles north on Main Street in the downtown. The nonprofit theater operates out of a refurbished brick warehouse. Cinephiles enter the theater via a brick alleyway illuminated by a neon sign. The downtown's Carson Center for Performing Arts features a Broadway series of plays as well as touring musical acts. The downtown also hosts events like BBQ on the River, an annual barbecue festival. "BBQ on the River attracts thousands of people to the waterfront. There's food and live music," Weisenberger says.
Maiden Alley Cinema offers a non profit cinema experience to the locals of Farley Place.

Getting around Paducah
Most of the streets are lined with sidewalks. There are streetlights to make folks feel safe while they take evening strolls. People take South 6th Street less than 2 miles north to Paducah's downtown. The neighborhood does not have access to public transit. Nashville International Airport is 140 miles southeast via Interstate 24.
Farley Place is a walkable community just to the South of downtown Paducah.
Farley Place is heavily wooded with old growth trees throughout the area.
