An up-and-coming neighborhood
The light filters through the leaves of the towering oaks, creating dappled sunshine along French Town's narrow streets and manicured lawns. Nestled between Lower Town and Fountain Avenue, this community reaps the benefits of each neighborhood. Lower Town is the oldest neighborhood in Paducah, renowned for its award-winning Artist Relocation Program. "French Town is an up-and-coming community, and it's in a good location," says Laura Petrie, a Realtor with Elite Realty and a long-time Paducah resident. "We are also seeing more people out riding their bikes or walking to the riverfront," Petrie says. The area is encompassed by an Opportunity Zone, communities appointed by the U.S. Department of Treasury to encourage investments in impoverished communities. These zones will experience additional properties being developed as mixed-use.
French Town's wide streets make it safer to bike and walk to shops and restaurants.

A Top Chef has a restaurant here
The revitalized Coke plant in Paducah has become a popular dining destination. The building, once used for bottling, has been transformed into a modern retail complex, with the anchor tenant being Mellow Mushroom, a pizzeria known for its craft beer and calzone. The eatery's interior is decorated with unique puzzle piece-shaped creations, and various sculptures are made from recycled metal objects. Petrie recommends Freight House, owned by Sarah Bradley, a 2023 runner-up on "Top Chef." The restaurant highlights farm-to-table American cuisine. In addition to dishes like shrimp and crab gumbo, Strickland's Seafood Restaurant is renowned for its fried alligator. Midtown Market and Kroger are nearby for groceries and pre-made food. For a little retail therapy, locals can drive 3 miles via back roads to the Kentucky Oaks Mall, which houses over 100 stores and chain restaurants.
