A place for gardens and chickens
Roosters crowing is a familiar sound in Rowlandtown. In fact, it's not uncommon to find chickens in backyards across the neighborhood. Gardening is also a popular pastime. "I see people outside all the time, tending to their gardens," says Realtor Amanda Johnson with Arnold Realty Group, who's lived in Paducah all her life. "Kids riding their bikes, neighbors walking dogs. It's a very walkable neighborhood, and there's a real sense of community." Wide, tree-lined streets reveal a mix of home styles, depending on the year they were built. Rowlandtown has the distinction of being one of Paducah's 15 original neighborhoods. "People from all over move here because they want to own a historic home without having to go before the Historic Architectural Review Commission to make changes to their home," says Johnson. "Plus, homes here are economical."
Rowlandtown is located on the Northern side of Paducah.
