A suburb with quick access to Paducah amenities
Three miles west of downtown Paducah, Valley Road offers stability and convenience. "It's a great location close to entertainment and shopping in the downtown area," says Realtor Jay Wommack, who sells homes in Valley Road with RE/MAX Real Estate Associates. The neighborhood features mostly ranch-style and new traditional homes on quarter to half-acre lots with shade trees and decorative gardens. "These are nice homes with well-kept lawns, and the neighborhood has a very friendly atmosphere." With two medical centers and several highly-rated public schools within 2 miles of the neighborhood, commutes for medical professionals and students are relatively short.
Eclectic single-family homes
"These houses do not usually require a lot of renovation," Wommack says. Most houses have front porches that are about 50 to 100 feet from the road. Brick ranch-style houses cost between $200,000 and $450,000. Larger homes in a variety of styles, such as Tudor Revival, Colonial Revival and French Provincial, can range from $500,000 to $800,000.

Clark Elementary School is less than a mile east of the neighborhood and has a B-plus Niche rating. Paducah Middle School is also about a mile east and receives a B-minus. Paducah Tilghman High School is just over 2 miles east of the neighborhood and gets a B-plus. The high school's Paducah Innovation Hub connects students with apprenticeships in industries such as technology, health care, advanced manufacturing and transportation.

About a mile east of Valley Road, the remaining buildings of an old Coca-Cola bottling facility house a cluster of restaurants. Mellow Mushroom serves pizza in a lively environment, including psychedelic murals and colorful chairs. Pipers Tea & Coffee operates from an Art Deco-style building with stainless steel double doors, a lacquered-oak lunch counter and hanging copper lights. Dry Ground Brewing Company's space is recognizable with its brick smokestack, a remnant from the factory days. Patrons can enjoy pints of craft beer and pub fare while sitting at tables flanked by stainless steel brewing tanks. Next door, Sweet Marye's bakes custom gourmet treats. Groceries are available at Midtown Market across Broadway Street.

Maiden Alley Cinema and McCracken County Fair
Paducah's downtown has a strong arts scene. The Carson Center for Performing Arts, about 4 miles northeast of Valley Road, features musical touring acts and Broadway series. The Maiden Alley Cinema is a nonprofit arthouse theater that shows new and classic films in a refurbished brick warehouse. Less than 2 miles northeast, Carson Park hosts the McCracken County Fair for a week each July. From atop the Ferris wheel, fairgoers look down on live bands, cotton candy vendors and cowboys racing around barrels.

Paxton Park Golf Course and Bob Noble Park
Paxton Park Golf Course is less than a mile southeast of Valley Road. The 18-hole course is open to the public. The 135-acre Bob Noble Park is less than 3 miles northeast of the neighborhood. It includes amenities like basketball and tennis courts, forested trails, baseball fields, a dog park and a 5-acre lake with fishing piers. Kentucky Lake is about 65 miles southeast of Paducah and is popular for water sports and fishing. Many of the city's residents get short-term rentals or own second houses on the lake.
